Una historia objetiva de la danza mexicana desde un punto de vista particular, legitimada por la revelación de documentos hasta el momento protegidos.

MEXICAN DANCE
Dentro del formato académico de una conferencia, MEXICAN DANCE, presenta una serie de documentos y evidencias en vivo, video, texto, imagen fija y audio. A lo largo de una hora, muestra, una tras otra, pruebas irrefutables de la influencia de la danza contemporánea mexicana en movimientos artísticos importantísimos alrededor del mundo.
Se analizan vínculos nunca antes examinados, entre el enorme acervo cultural que comprende la cultura mexicana y los más grandes avances de las mas variadas disciplinas alrededor del mundo.
Si empalmáramos a la Historia y a la Realidad, una sobre otra ¿coincidirían sus siluetas? ¿quién decide qué es lo que ocurrió? ¿quién lo autoriza como una verdad inapelable? ¿por qué rendirle pleitesía a una institución como la historia, y asumir su objetividad?
A través de MEXICAN DANCE, y gracias al apoyo del CHIDHO (Centro de Historia e Investigaciones en Danza Hoy), el COLECTIVO AM propone reescribir la Historia imponiendo arbitrariamente un nuevo discurso institucional, autorizado por nosotros mismos, con asumida objetividad cuasicientífica. Un discurso México-centrista que pretende poner en evidencia la colonizada obsesión de una mirada al extranjero, y la parcialidad con la que críticos e historiadores han escogido los puntos importantes para referir a el pasado.
Al ofrecer una postura distinta, evidente e igualmente parcial, proponemos la imposibilidad de lo objetivo. La institución se tambalea, y múltiples miradas emergen. Lo totalitario y lo neocolonialista quedan en duda; proponemos volver a pensar la Institución Histórica.¿Dónde estamos y que queremos decir?

MEXICAN DANCE
Inside the academic structure of a lecture, MEXICAN DANCE presents a series of documents, and live, text, video, image and audio evidences. Throughout an hour, it shows us, step-by-step, irrefutable proof of the influence of Mexican contemporary dance over some of the must important artistic movements around the globe. Links between the enormous heritage of Mexican culture and the greatest advances of many different disciplines around the world, links never examined before, are analyzed.
If we juxtapose History and Reality one over the other ¿would their silhouettes coincide? ¿Who decides what happened? ¿Who authorizes it as an ultimate truth? ¿Why to pay homage to an institution like History and assume its objectivity?
Through MEXICAN DANCE, we propose to re-write history, arbitrarily imposing a new institutional discourse, authorized by ourselves, with assumed pseudoscientific objectivity. A Mexicentered discourse that seeks to highlight the colonized Mexican obsession for a gaze to foreign parts, and the partiality with which critics and historians have chosen the past that should be remembered. Through offering a different (though equally biased) position, we propose the impossibility of the objective. The institution stutters and multiple gazes arise. The totalitarian and the neo-colonialist are now questioned. We propose to think the Historical Institution again. ¿Where are we and what do we want to say?
